Young Filipina singer Marlisa Punzalan is in the Top 3 for
the grand finals of X Factor Australia.
The 15-year-old Punzalan, who wowed the judges with her
version of Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” will compete with Brothers 3 and Dean
Ray in the finals.
Punzalan’s inclusion in the Top 3 was announced at the end
of the Live Decider episode. She sang a cover from the Beatles.
“You are on fire,” one of the judges, Dannii Minogue, told
Marlisa. “Not only you stepped into your voice and confidence, but you are
mastering those rounds. Amazing.”
Another judge, Redfoo, praised Punzalan for her “great
vocal” although he advised her to have some “body language” next time.
Punzalan is the only Filipino performer who made it to the
finals.
Girl group Trill, composed of Filipina teenagers, was
eliminated in the show’s first live show.
Solo singers Jal Joshua, Erin Miranda, Justin Vasquez and
Mary Ann van der Horst, meanwhile, were eliminated during the elimination
rounds.
